We interrupt this regular broadcast to bring you a memory—this is #Istanbul, August 2015, a couple of days before we took a leap and made our first truly adult decision of our lives.
In October, it’ll be 11 years since you first walked into the room and set your scopes on me, saying “hi, what’s your name?” Today, it’s 7 years since we made it official and we’re still full speed ahead. Ahoy, Christine! ❤️🫠
We liked it so much we did it again the next year, in #Paphos—here it is in October 2016.
Slide 2 is the weird but meaningful art at our hotel; slide 4 is the 30 year old bottle of arak that that guy was so excited to share with me; slide 5 is another cat because cats are good.
In the spirit of today, here’s some sickly sweet pops of color and cuteness.
“What begins as undifferentiated space becomes place as we get to know it better and endow it with value . . . The ideas ‘space’ and ‘place’ require each other for definition. From the security and stability of place we are aware of the openness, freedom, and threat of space, and vice versa. Furthermore, if we think of space as that which allows movement, then place is pause; each pause in movement makes it possible for location to be transformed into place.” (Yi-Fu Tuan)
When I saw these two, I couldn’t help but pretend to be their (secret) engagement photographer.
