We’re back in Seattle and I’m pretty groggy, but I wanted to post something from this Groundhog Day of a transpacific Friday. I took these before our flight today; the last time I was in this airport, I spent the night on this observation deck because my flight was too early for public transport. Today was a lot easier. This really is a rare airport that’s actually pretty pleasant to spend a couple of hours in, if you ignore the fact that there doesn’t seem to be much air conditioning in the building. I think they wanted to keep that “you haven’t really left the city yet” vibe. Lucky for me, I still had one of those cooling wipes that kept me from my boiling point several times during this trip. So we had a decent travel day. I enjoyed seeing the exact same Ramen place and the exact same food court booth where I had breakfast the last time I was here, eleven years ago. A lot has changed in the last decade, and yet, I was pleasantly surprised by the things that are exactly the same.
I took a lot of pictures in Japan. Like a lot a lot. But I also tried to soak in every vibey moment like a sponge. I’ll posting more of both for a little while.
This music is from an artist I would be introduced to on vinyl at the hotel we stayed at.
I didn’t bring a digital camera with me to force myself to take more film, which is how I ended up with 9 rolls of the stuff—more than I’ve ever taken on any trip. More than I take in months! That’s also how I ended up with so many phone pics too.
I was really happy that I could buy, shoot, dev/scan, AND retrieve all my film while I was on the move. The turnaround time here is insane! Why is that? Why can’t Seattle match it?
